How to get there from Dublin by Bus:

Departing from Dublin you have to go Dublin’s Bus Central Station “Busaras” (Ph: 01 896 61 11), which is located in Store Street, near Connolly Station and only five minutes from O’Connell St.
From Dublin airport to “Busaras” the Airlink747 takes just about 30 minutes. It departs every 10 minutes and cost €6.
The 41 and the 16A also connect Dublin Airport and Dublin City centre at a cost of only €1’90.

Once in the station look for Bus Eireann. There are not direct link from Dublin to Gort so best option is to get you a ticket to either Limerick or Galway. From there take another bus to Gort.
  
Dublin-Limerick departs every day from Busaras. Between 7:30h and 18:30h there is bus every hour and a last one at 20:00hs. The trip takes about 3h. Cost is €18’50 return.

Dublin-Galway. On ebus almost every hour from 07:30am. The trip takes about three hours and cost is €16’50 return.

From Limerick or Galway take a bus to Gort that cost €6 and only takes about 40 minutes. Once in Gort look for signs and directions to Lough Cutra.

How to get there from other cities by bus?:

Take a bus to either Limerick or Galway and from there take one to Gort. Bus Eireann offers good and frequent services from most Irish cities. To find out about times and prices please check www.buseireann.ie

How to get there by Train

Train is another good option although a bit expensier than the bus. There are frequent trains from Dublin and Cork to Galway and Limerick.

By car

From Dublin Airport

Out of the airport head for the M50.
Head out of Dublin on the N4 to "The West".
At Kinnegad take the N6 towards Athlone/Galway.
Past Athlone, through Ballinasloe and into a town called Loughrea. Towards the end of the town is a turning to the left for a town called Gort - take this road, the N66. As you come into Gort there is a T junction, turn left towards Ennis/Limerick onto the N18. After c 3km there is a sign for a turning to the left, take this turn. Immediately in front of you there is a large set of gates - there are cannon balls on top and large stone piers. Very distinctive. Go through the gates and up the drive - watch out for the speed bumps. You will come to another set of gates, marked private. Through these gates and through the next set of gates, keep going until the castle appears. .

From Shannon Airport

Take the N18 north towards Galway. Through Ennis and Crusheen. 4 km outside Gort is a Car Sales/Garage called Robbie Marcus Car Sales. 1 km further on there is a turn to the right, take this turn. Immediately on your right there is a large set of gates - there are cannon balls on top and large stone piers. Very distinctive. Go through the gates and up the drive - watch out for the speed bumps. You will come to another set of gates, marked private. Through these gates and on through the next set of gates, keep going until the castle appears

From Dublin Ferry Port

Head out of Dublin on the N4 to "The West".

From Rosslare Ferry Port

Take the N25 through Wexford to Waterford.
Then the N24 through Tipperary to Limerick.
Take the N18 north towards Galway.

From Belfast/Larne Ferry Ports

Take the M1 south towards Dublin.
This becomes the N1 in the Republic.
Then beyond Dublin Airport head for the M50.
