Electric Penguins - named after the password for Paul McCartney's Cavendish Square pad in the 60's, are: Mark Cummins: Vocals, Guitars & Synthesizers, Paul Murphy: Piano, Synthesizers, Vocals & Programming, Sean Quinn: Synthesizers, Guitar & Vocals.
The band formed in April 2006 with a simple idea: to make a modern album using only technology/sounds from 1975 suddenly became a manifesto. Debut album “Goodbye From The Electric Penguins” recorded in their studio by a railyard in Dublin’s East Wall appeared like a breath of sweet summer air in 2006. All instruments were played by hand. No 5.4 surround sound, no cut’n’paste. Just three guys in a room doing it old-school.
They proved it live on stage as well as their storming performance at last year’s Life Festival & support slots to DEVO & Krautrock legend Roedelius will attest. The Penguins are currently back in East Wall recording the second album which is scheduled for summer 2008.
